The Slow Foods Movement is all about promoting local food and traditional cooking. An alternative to fast foods, Slow Foods strive to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages the farming of plants, seeds, and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem. It’s a commitment to quality instead of a commitment to speed.
The Slow Foods Movement was founded in Italy, in 1986 by Carlo Petrini, to promote eating foods that were locally grown and made to nourish the body. The Movement spread quickly to France and other parts of Europe. Today, it has grown into a GLOBAL, grassroots Movement to preserve local food cultures and traditions while counteracting the rise of fast food around the world.
The aim of the Slow Foods Movement is to emphasize the joy of eating good, locally grown food while inspiring gastronomic pleasure through a slower pace of life.
In our informative and educational Ayurvedic Cooking Series, we’ll give you tips and techniques on how to stop eating rootless fast food, instead of taking the time to prepare and eat whole, locally-sourced foods. The focus is not only on nutrition but also on HOW to embrace a comprehensive approach
to food and our connection between plate, planet, farmers, and the preservation of our own local food cultures.
Our cooking class will be HANDS-ON with groups at cooking stations inside Gideon Owen’s private event hall. Our menu will feature delicious recipes from the first two regions of the Slow Foods Movement (Italy and France) along with WINE and BEER PAIRINGS for each plate we create together.
The fee to attend is just $129.00 and includes a Champagne meet & greet, the cooking class, dinner, two wine pairings, one beer pairing, coffee, tea, dessert, recipe booklet, and an herb garden swag from Gideon Owen to take home along with an event apron from Root to Rise!
We’ll also be doing a RAFFLE for one lucky participant to win a FREE WELLNESS PARTY (for up to 15 people) courtesy of Soul Stretch Yoga, Soul Stretch Spin and Root to Rise Wellness Café.
Space is limited and this event will sell out. To REGISTER, visit our sister website at www.soulstretchmobileyoga.com and click on Karma Soft, then on “workshops.” You can also call Rose at (440) 223-7673.
